A BIT OF THIS ,BIT OF THAT SMOOTHIE!!

On Friday the 27 of November we made scrumpish smoothies that filled up our tum tums .
They were Delicious but we did not exactly follow the recipe we just chucked in about 3 banana's, poured in some yogurt, 2 cups of juice, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 slice of chunky pineapple, 1 apple and about 3 ice cubes. Next we poured all the smoothie ingredients in the blender but we were not to sure how to work it at first but we eventually worked it out. The best thing about it was drinking the smoothies. It was very refreshing and tasty.
WE LOVED MAKING SMOOTHIES !!!

Jolly Good Smoothies.
In class we have been looking at art made of fruit and vegetables so Ms Brown had an idea to make smoothies. After Ms.Brown said we were going to make smoothies we brought in all types of fruit blenders and chopping boards in. On Friday 26th of November we mixed all the fruit. We called it "Stroyseno"(str-oz-en-no) the str stands for Strawberries, the oysen stands for Boysenberries and the o stands for mango's. We were given a recipe to follow but we just put about 2 cups of milk and 1 and 1/2 cups of strawberries 2 mango's and mango juice the rest of the mango's we just ate. When we turned on the blender it would not turn on. We thought the plug was broken, so we changed plugs but it still would not work so we put the blender on a different way and it worked. We tried it and it tasted phenomenal!

Smothie making room 8

On Friday 27 November 2009 we made smoothies. We will show you how to make ours.
1 cup of Pam's cream
1 cup of Homemade apple juice
1 cup of strawberries
1/2 a cup of blueberries
1/2 a cup of Pam's mangoes
1 cup of ice cubes

First put the cream in the blender.
Then cut up the 4 strawberries and put it in a cup and put in the blender .
Then put homemade apple juice into the blender.
Then put in blueberries into the blender.
Then put in Pam's mangoes into the blender.
Then put in ice cubes into the blender then mix.

Berry Berry Nice

On Friday the 28th of November we made smoothies in the staff room. Our group couldn't figure out why the blender wasn't turning on. Five minutes later we discovered that it was not plugged in after that we felt like nincompoops. We went a bit crazy with a recipe too. We put in way too many berries turning it a very dark red colour. After that Tait tasted a drop on the table and said it tasted like asparalina a drink that is made of seaweed. We added some fruit juice and Tait said it still tasted like asparalina. Then we added ice and Maia accidentally spilt some on the floor. Then we plopped on the lid and nearly had the same problem of not turning it on properly but remembered from early experience that it might not be plugged in properly. Now it is time to blend it up in the blender. Look at it all spin around and around and around. Finally it's all done! We took the smoothie over to Miss Brown and she poured some smoothie into four cups. Then we drunk it YUMMY! (Tait still said it tasted like asparalina).

Scrummy Smoothies!!!

In room 8 we were split up into 5 groups. In our groups we decided what we are going to bring in for our smoothies. One person in the group had to bring in a smoothie maker, a chopping board, a knife, fruit and juice. When we went down to the staff room we where all up and jumping we started chucking in lots of different fruits like kiwi fruit, pineapple, apple, mandarins, mixed Berries yogurt and pear. We didn't exactly follow the rules but it ended out the best smoothie ever it tasted tropical !!! (At least to us any way!) we played Simon says while some of us were doing the dishes. Some people in our group Georgia, Elena and Tegan put there fingers in to the berries to try and scare our teacher, Miss Brown to think that they put there fingers in the blender unfortunately Miss Brown did not fall for it, BUMMER!!! We drunk our scrummy smoothies and went back to class.

Running

On Tuesday 4 August 2009 we did our school Cross country race. We walked over to Arahai Park. When Mr Taylor shouted GO we spirited off into the rain. The field was all wet and muddy but we thought that was fun! We had to jump over things and had to run 2 big laps and 1 small one too. The last lap seemed to go on forever! We were tired and muddy!

When we got back to school we changed into clean clothes and went back to class.

Cross country starts

In comes Mrs.Pilcher and says"Year 4s and under will not be running today" So that meant we were running now so out we went under the shelter to do some exercises. Then off we went to Arahai park in the wet wet rain. When we got to Arahai park we ran to the starting line and heard Mr.Charmers shout in a daring voice on your marks... get set... GO!!!!
We where off in a hough and ran through the track.
The grass felt squashy when we ran and were being all we could.
We got yucky mud all over our body.
And we all made it past the finish line.
YEAH!!

Jump for victory!!!!!!

The Aranui park Log is the 2nd to last obstacle.
The year 5-8's had to run in the rain.
Lucky room 8/9! We only had to run while it was spitting! It was very wet and soggy we all got sprayed on the back with mud! we tried our best and did all we can and we had a great time.

cross country finish

Tuesday 5 August we did our X Country at Aranai Park. It was raining so the ground was quite boggy, lots of people slipped over.
Year 5,6,7&8 ran but year 4,3,2,1&0 didn't run because it would be too muddy. We walked to the park in our year groups because if we went all together it would be very miserable and would be very wet and I mean really wet!
Everyone ran there best effort. It was so tiring but we did it. Everyone and I mean everyone had the most amusing, weirdest faces at the end it was hilarious! Muddy, spotty bums it was good that we had a peer of spare clothes. Once we have finished we found we were rather dirty! We found out who was going Rabbit Island and that was exciting for every one!

Mud Mud Mud!

Tuesday 4 August 2009

The day of the X country was pouring!
It was so bleak the year 8's were shivering to death!
But soon it cleared up BUT THAT WAS WHEN WE HAD OUR RACE! Imagine how muddy it would be! All the mud flying up our backs. Jumping ditch's,logs, streams. But the MUD! It was so thick it went right up to our ankles and we had to run in it! Most people slipped because it was muddy the whole way thought the track. But the whole class still enjoyed it.

x-country running

On Tuesday 4 August we went on our school x-country run. The whistle blew, we
sprinted off like a flock of birds fleeing from a sneaky fox. I hurtled down the track,
the wind blew in my face and rain splattered on every ones heads.I was coming first with James and Theo coming up behind me.My heart was beating really fast every now and then I could hear thumping footsteps behind me. I was coming up to my
second lap and I was still coming first, by now I was soaked to the
skin but weirdly enough I was not one bit cold. The log hurdles were
coming up and I was wondering I could make them or not. YES! Only half
a lap to go and I had not fallen over, yet. I rounded the sharp
corner, every step I took was closer to victory, and finally there it was, the finish line of my dream.
I was completely out of breath by the time I was over the finish line.
The feeling in my heart was to great to say I had come first!!!
We all walked back to get warm and dry in our classroom. When we were nice and cosy we watched night of the museum with everyone else.
The next day I came to school with a happy face,I had one the Mapua Year 5 boys 2009 X-country!

Lake Rotoiti

Day1

In the morning we arrived at school. We put our heavy bags in Dave's black sheep trailer. We loaded our bikes on to Bruce's trailer and we started to go. When we arrived at Lake Rotoiti and we took our bags out of Dave's trailer. We looked around the cabins and we found our cabins. Later on we looked around Lake Rotoiti there was lots of amazing native bushes. Then we sorted ourselves into groups for our rotation. The activities were
Biking and the Honeydew walk. We had cake, fruit and some juice for morning tea. We changed activities. After we had all that fun running around,we went to see Peta(Doc) and she talked to us about the native life.Peta taught us a really fun game that is called Tui's ,Bell Birds and Wasps. This is how to play there are wasps Bellbird's and Tui's and trees that give out honeydew and the wasps steal the honey and the bird's get the honey for their chicks. When we got back to the Red Deer Lodge we had lunch, we had our packed lunch. After lunch we played some games in the lodge they were just board games and card games. We did that for a while and then had some afternoon tea. Then we carried on playing card games and board games. After that we did our duties got comfy and ready for the delicious meal made by Fiona. After dinner we had a delicious ice cream Sunday for pudding. When it was dark we went out for the big Possum Hunt.It was very scary and dark!

Day 2

On day two we woke up and had breakfast. It was activity day. We got into different groups.

Some of us went kayaking with Judith. She taught us how to get in and out of a Kayak. We paddled out onto the lake and made a kayak raft.

We went to Whiskey Falls on a boat. We had to walk up a track through trees which took about 10 minutes. We had to climb down wet rocks and Frankie helped us down so that we could taste the water. Kruz thinks it tasted like ice-cream but Robbie thinks it tastes of sweet water but we wished we had taken our water bottles to fill them up. Because of the rain no other groups got to go out on the boat.

We also did Orienteering. We had a map of the local area were we had to look under rocks, on signs and on the ground as well as on the trees for clues. After we found all of the clues we went back to Red Deer Lodge then we worked out the secret answer.

In the Visitor Center we found information about the Honeydrew and how it was made. We also found out how New Zealand has more earthquakes then Oz

Day 3

On day 3 we had breakfast. We had spaghetti, baked beans, cereal and toast. We sang Happy Birthday to Dylan
It was raining and we could not go for our walk so we played balloon volleyball, the dream team (boys team) won 10 to 5. Then we all went into Dave's trailer. Miss Brown climbed in and riped her pants! Miss Hough taught us a new team building game where we had to try and sit on each others lap - it was really difficult. After that we had Milo and morning tea.
It was still raining so we watched Titan AE it's about a guy that goes on a space ship with a girl,a random turtle professor,a cyborg fish guy and a girl with big legs and ears.they are running from the dredge because they blew up the earth.
In the afternoon we also went on a walk in the rain it was freezing. We went to Rotoiti Education Centre where we worked together on the block walker and climbed the fidget ladder.

When we got back we had birthday cake had tea and wrote in our camp Diaries. We then toasted Mashmellows. We put them on sticks then toasted them on the fire and put them between two chocolate biscuits and they tasted delicious. The parents were exhausted so we took them to the cabins.

Day 4

In the morning the mountains had white tips and the tap in the girls toilet was frozen. After we packed our bags we made our sandwiches for the Peninsula walk. We had a yummy breakfast like apple crumble, toast and cereals.

We tied up around Red Deer Lodge picking up all the rubbish then Ms Brown took us down to the lake for an easter egg hunt. Miss Hough and Al (the easter bunnies helper) were waiting for us. The hid the Easter Eggs under rocks, along the lake edge, under trees, the playground and grass. Tait dropped his egg and a duck came along and ate it up! We hope that the duck is not sick.

Once Red Deer Lodge was clean we all went for a walk around the Peninsula. We saw big waves on the lake, Daniel saw a purple mushroom, lots of fungus, we had to duck because a tree trunk was on an angle we heard Tui's and Bellbirds and lots of wasps. Seriana wanted to find out what was on the other side of the lake but we did not have enough time because we needed to head back to school where our mums and dads were waiting for us.
