Daffodil day!

Mapua school gathered round on the old court, waiting and waiting, for our time. Finally, The teachers asked for us to put our coins on the Daffodil. Daffodil day is to give money, and remember the people who have and had cancer. On our courts, every year on Daffodil day, one of our best drawers in the school draws a Daffodil for our whole school to place a coin on. Every single coin is taken to the Cancer Society.

Amazing Ski trip!

The children were zooming down the icy slope, Parents were drinking coffee also cheering for their children that made an achievement. Everyone had loads of fun at the Rainbow Ski field. Once we got to Rainbow, we headed up towards Mt. Robert hut where we were put into our ski lesson groups, then we tramped to a building to get our skis on, finally we plodded off to go skiing. We had fun sliding down the icy slopes, and about everyone made an achievement almost all the beginners made it to the intermediate slope, so over all we had millions of fun.

I'm home!

Hi! on friday I just arrived home in the evening but... it was supposed to be the afternoon, what happend was... well, I was leaving australia to Auckland but once we were hovering over top of the airport there was too much fog there so we had to fly down to Wellington get some fuel and wait for the fog to go away, we went back up to Auckland and our flight to Nelson had been delayed so, we had to wait a long time to hop on the plane but once we got on the plane... we spent about 50mins waiting for us to take off. So we are sitting inside our house dad and Owen watching rugby, mum doing.. whatever mum does. I'll be back to school on monday, so I'll see you soon! bye!

Hi, room 8! sorry again! I forgot to say I was in Wales last time and saw a mole! It was about 8cm long! It was making scratch marks on the drive way to my grandmas house! It was trying to dig in the drive way but it couldn't so Owen put it on sme dirt and the next few days we didn't see it because it made a home or it fell in the river because when it walked it kept on rollling over and getting up again.
Now i'm in auntie Ann's house again and most of my cousons are here! There is: Jack and Andy (Ann's Adults), and Toby and Katie and Sam (some of autie Jennys children),

The Mapua School Cross Country 2010

On your marks, get set, go! Everyone started running their guts out, in the year five races! The boys went first then the girls. It was wet, muddy and slippery. People were slipping over, kicking mud on other people's faces, and kicking mud up their own back!
It was a very exciting race. Some people almost slipped into the ditch by slipping on
the mud! It was a great race. Mac won the boys race and Brooke won the girls.

How to make a leaf print!

First to make our leaf prints we had to find a leaf. Next we drew a picture of the leaf on a piece of card. After that we got some p.v.a glue and glued over all of the lines. The next day the glue had dried so we got a piece of newspaper and we chose a colour, then we rolled over our print with a roller for a minute or two. Then we went back to our desks and folded the newspaper in half then got a piece of paper and put it on top of the print. Then we got a clean roller and rolled over our print. Finally we took off the piece of paper and we had a leaf print! By Latai and Sophie

It's all about clay!

Clay here, clay there, clay everywhere! Room 8 have been sculpting with clay because art is our topic. We have made coil pots, thumb pots and clay tiles. The coil pots were made by making long snake bits of clay and then wrapping it round and round in circles. The thumb pot was made by rolling a ball of clay and pinch the inside of it.

Easter egg hunt

The Mapua School Easter egg hunt is held every year. It is when the four house teams of Mapua School race each other to find clues and complete the puzzle with the clues. House points are given to the first house to complete the puzzle. You get two chocolate Easter eggs when your house completes the puzzle. It is REALLY yummy! We thought Green house was dressed the best!
