Lake Rotoiti

Day1

In the morning we arrived at school. We put our heavy bags in Dave's black sheep trailer. We loaded our bikes on to Bruce's trailer and we started to go. When we arrived at Lake Rotoiti and we took our bags out of Dave's trailer. We looked around the cabins and we found our cabins. Later on we looked around Lake Rotoiti there was lots of amazing native bushes. Then we sorted ourselves into groups for our rotation. The activities were
Biking and the Honeydew walk. We had cake, fruit and some juice for morning tea. We changed activities. After we had all that fun running around,we went to see Peta(Doc) and she talked to us about the native life.Peta taught us a really fun game that is called Tui's ,Bell Birds and Wasps. This is how to play there are wasps Bellbird's and Tui's and trees that give out honeydew and the wasps steal the honey and the bird's get the honey for their chicks. When we got back to the Red Deer Lodge we had lunch, we had our packed lunch. After lunch we played some games in the lodge they were just board games and card games. We did that for a while and then had some afternoon tea. Then we carried on playing card games and board games. After that we did our duties got comfy and ready for the delicious meal made by Fiona. After dinner we had a delicious ice cream Sunday for pudding. When it was dark we went out for the big Possum Hunt.It was very scary and dark!

Day 2

On day two we woke up and had breakfast. It was activity day. We got into different groups.

Some of us went kayaking with Judith. She taught us how to get in and out of a Kayak. We paddled out onto the lake and made a kayak raft.

We went to Whiskey Falls on a boat. We had to walk up a track through trees which took about 10 minutes. We had to climb down wet rocks and Frankie helped us down so that we could taste the water. Kruz thinks it tasted like ice-cream but Robbie thinks it tastes of sweet water but we wished we had taken our water bottles to fill them up. Because of the rain no other groups got to go out on the boat.

We also did Orienteering. We had a map of the local area were we had to look under rocks, on signs and on the ground as well as on the trees for clues. After we found all of the clues we went back to Red Deer Lodge then we worked out the secret answer.

In the Visitor Center we found information about the Honeydrew and how it was made. We also found out how New Zealand has more earthquakes then Oz

Day 3

On day 3 we had breakfast. We had spaghetti, baked beans, cereal and toast. We sang Happy Birthday to Dylan
It was raining and we could not go for our walk so we played balloon volleyball, the dream team (boys team) won 10 to 5. Then we all went into Dave's trailer. Miss Brown climbed in and riped her pants! Miss Hough taught us a new team building game where we had to try and sit on each others lap - it was really difficult. After that we had Milo and morning tea.
It was still raining so we watched Titan AE it's about a guy that goes on a space ship with a girl,a random turtle professor,a cyborg fish guy and a girl with big legs and ears.they are running from the dredge because they blew up the earth.
In the afternoon we also went on a walk in the rain it was freezing. We went to Rotoiti Education Centre where we worked together on the block walker and climbed the fidget ladder.

When we got back we had birthday cake had tea and wrote in our camp Diaries. We then toasted Mashmellows. We put them on sticks then toasted them on the fire and put them between two chocolate biscuits and they tasted delicious. The parents were exhausted so we took them to the cabins.

Day 4

In the morning the mountains had white tips and the tap in the girls toilet was frozen. After we packed our bags we made our sandwiches for the Peninsula walk. We had a yummy breakfast like apple crumble, toast and cereals.

We tied up around Red Deer Lodge picking up all the rubbish then Ms Brown took us down to the lake for an easter egg hunt. Miss Hough and Al (the easter bunnies helper) were waiting for us. The hid the Easter Eggs under rocks, along the lake edge, under trees, the playground and grass. Tait dropped his egg and a duck came along and ate it up! We hope that the duck is not sick.

Once Red Deer Lodge was clean we all went for a walk around the Peninsula. We saw big waves on the lake, Daniel saw a purple mushroom, lots of fungus, we had to duck because a tree trunk was on an angle we heard Tui's and Bellbirds and lots of wasps. Seriana wanted to find out what was on the other side of the lake but we did not have enough time because we needed to head back to school where our mums and dads were waiting for us.
